This structured integrative review examines the empirical and theoretical literature on shared savoring in romantic relationships to clarify how, why, and under what conditions this process may contribute to relationship quality and relational flourishing. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PsycINFO, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar using predefined keyword combinations related to savoring, interpersonal savoring, joint savoring, romantic relationships, relationship satisfaction, partner responsiveness, capitalization, and relational flourishing. After screening titles, abstracts, full texts, and reference lists according to predefined eligibility criteria, nine peer-reviewed studies were included in the narrative synthesis. The evidence suggests that joint savoring is positively associated with relationship satisfaction, relationship confidence, and quality of life, and negatively associated with communication conflict. General and individual relational savoring are also associated with positive affect, relationship satisfaction, and well-being, while savoring may buffer some adverse effects of stress on relationship outcomes. However, direct evidence linking shared savoring to relational flourishing, intimacy, perceived partner responsiveness, trust, and commitment remains limited or absent. The review identifies important gaps, including the lack of longitudinal and dyadic research, limited cultural diversity, inconsistent measurement, and insufficient evidence regarding mechanisms and moderators. Shared savoring appears promising but remains an emerging construct requiring further empirical investigation.
